Mess Around was appropriately messy tonight – in the best possible way.
Before I tell you about it though, I need to update you with the t shirt designs the amazing Ian has made. Firstly, he did this for Eckhardt the hilarious German:
Then followed up with this for last night’s rocking Tax Office worker:
Ian really is doing an incredible job, especially considering he has set himself an hour time limit for each design.
Onto tonight’s show, in which a messy start lead me to drag two audience members on stage – Bruce and Andreas. Bruce was 80 years old, and by his own admission had “a crook foot”. Andreas was 19 and had an artificial left foot. I know what you’re thinking – how could this possibly lead to laughs?
Well, first Andreas and I posed with our legs in the air alongside Bruce for a photo:
I of course tweeted it and asked for captions.
While trying to put our prostheses back on, Andreas and I ended up looking like we were doing interpretive dance, so we posed for what we called “one legged ballet”, while Bruce tried to get his broken wrist into the shot:
I then decided to teach Andreas my party trick, in which I impersonate the T 1000 in Terminator 2 when it walks across a frozen floor, then keeps walking as its leg gets stuck to the floor. I grabbed a young child from the audience to act as John Connor, and said in a mock Austrian accent “Stay away from the child”. Admittedly this sounded more Fritzl than Schwarzenegger.
As Andreas made his way across the stage, Bruce made sound effects. Well, he tried to make sound effects. He basically sounded like a cat hacking up a furball. We then finished the scene off by linking arms and doing the Can-Can – unsure of just how many limbs would stay attached.
Once again props go to Siiri and Gen for finding Can-Can music at short notice, but big ups to Andreas, Bruce and young Braden for making the magic happen.
I wrapped up the show by checking the tweets for a caption for tomorrow’s t shirt, and got some crackers. Just to remind you, this was the photo:
The suggested captions included:
RT @Damo4x4: YES!!! we have found our donor body!!!
RT @cfithall: Dyslexic charade players do “head over heels”
RT @Cillian_Coleman: ‘Spare set of legs! No reasonable offer refused! Buy now and recieve a free Octogenarian!!
RT @PortiaScott: What has 4 legs and 6 arms? Adam Hills and 2 audience members.
RT @Jason_Mc_Cabe: were sorry heather mills couldn’t be here in person but …
In his bid to cash-in on looking like Adam Hills, Wil Anderson finally goes too far… (tweeted by Wil Anderson)
but the winner was judged to be: RT @ThunderKats1991: Was it a shark? No, it was a pensioner.
That will now appear on a t shirt that will be for sale tomorrow at 6pm at the Spiegeltent, with all proceeds going to Novita Children’s Services. In fact we have now raised over a thousand dollars for Novita, and as we did a photo shoot today to promote the charity, the lovely Gemma from Novita gave me some very touching gifts. Thanks Gemma.
I think that’s all for tonight. Obviously there will be more tomorrow.
