Hello to my blog followers, and in particular to a lady in Canada who left a message after yesterday’s blog. I am chuffed to think that someone on the other side of the planet is reading this blog – so I’d like to start tonight’s blog with a photo I took of the audience waving to Cindy in Canada:
Hope you like it Cindy!
The gap in the front row is where David was sitting. David is a long term fan of mine who I immediately recognised. He is my favourite hippy teacher, although I did mention that he looked like Santa on holidays. David told me that he did work as Santa for a few years, but before he said anything else I searched the room for children – to explain to them why Santa is in my audience, and how someone could “work as Santa”.
That’s when I found Molly, a twelve year old, originally from Canada. (What is it with Canadians tonight?)
Molly was confident, cool, well spoken, and upfront, so I invited her to the stage. She was also very funny. I asked her to sit with David, took a photo, tweeted it, and asked for captions:
I gotta say, my twitter followers were on fire tonight. A selection of the best included:
newishness Snow White and The Giant Dwarf.
AliGoo Cast from ‘Noddy and Big Ears’ the musical.
julz02X Are the shirts deliberate? In which case Batman has let himself go, and Catwoman is starting young…

ThunderKats1991 It just shows how progressive we are- an older man wearing more jewelry than a younger girl.

Well done tweeters, every one of those got a massive laugh, and a few got rounds of applause.
I asked young Molly if she had ever been on stage before, she said she had sung opera at school but would rather be doing comedy. Then I got an idea.
But first I re-introduced Chris Hughes. Briefly, Chris is an IT Manager that I am trying to make more famous than Shiloh Jolie Pitt by the end of the Festival. Chris is only taking part in it if we also raise money for The Simon Rhoden Foundation, which helps people with cystic fibrosis. Chris has already promised to strip to a pair of bicycle shorts on stage at Federation Square if we raise $20,000. Mark the butcher will cook a barbeque on the night, and Steve the marketing man is supplying the lycra.
I then asked Molly if she would like to make her stage debut by MC’ing Chris’ strip. She said I had to ask her mother, who shouted “do it, do it, do it”
So – if we raise $20,000 Chris will strip at Fed Square as Mark cooks a barbie, Steve supplies lycra and Molly MC’s.
But how do we make Chris famous by then? Simple – with a great poster, designed by another Steve from last night’s audience. Steve brought down two versions, a straight one and a raunchy one. Guess which one was the audience favourite? Yes, the raunchy one.
I will upload the poster tomorrow night to this site – then the task is your to print one (or more) off, and stick them up in your local area. Including internationally. In fact, I suggested that anyone reading this blog overseas should stick a poster of Chris in a prominent position, (preferably in front of a local landmark) take a photo, and send it to me at info@adamhills.com.au.
Meanwhile the viral video we made onstage last night is now up here on youtube, thanks to Geoffo:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmU-hqdJD7k
and for higher quality
In Geoff’s words: “Please share these video links with as many people as you can!
If you have a blog or website, you can embed the YOUTUBE or VIMEO video so other’s can watch directly from your own site.
C’mon folks … let’s exceed the $20K target and see Chris Hughes get naked at Fed. Square!”
Once again we put a bucket at the door, and once again the response was astounding – $635.45 donated! Which takes the total to $1538.45. We are well on our way to $20,000 people. Less than $18500 to go.
You can join in the donations here http://www.simonrhodenfoundation.org/donate.asp
Or with this PayPal link
And you can become a facebook Fan of Chris Hughes (there are 120 already) here – http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=107878905899360&ref=ts
I think that’s all from tonight – thanks to Steve for the posters (and don’t forget to check the blog tomorrow night, it might be late, but I’ll upload it) David for being a good sport and a loyal fan, and especially to Molly who sent this tweet after the show:
-
MollyCarrots @adamhillscomedy Hey, it’s Molly (you know, the ‘elf’ from the show). Mom and I are really excited about this MC thing! Thanks, awesome show
Thanks Molly, it was my pleasure.
I have a few nights of no shows now while we film a few episodes of Spicks and Specks, so there won’t be another show til Friday. In the meantime stay tuned to this blog where tomorrow night will see the great unveiling of the Chris Hughes poster; and make sure you send the Youtube link to as many people as you can. In fact, if you do watch the video yourself, leave a comment letting me know where you are in the world. It’d be interesting to see how far this phenomenon can stretch.
Of course a huge thanks goes to Chris for being a great sport throughout all of this. We couldn’t do it without him.
I believe that is all for now, good night all

29.03.2010 at 03:19Hey… I just had to let you know that there are definately people on the other side of the world who are grateful to read about the shows. It’s not quite as far as Canada but I’m loving the updates from Edinburgh. The daily blogs are guaranteed to brighten days wherever they are read: thank-you! I’ve passed the message on to a few cities in the UK, and now to Iceland where apparently you’re not a stranger but they were yet to hear of the up & coming celebrity Chris Hughes! Suprising I know but I’ve sent the links & fingers crossed for a few poster pics…:)

29.03.2010 at 11:20Hey Adam – great show last night (28th). How about making some Chris Hughes t-shirts and selling them online? Or badges (I think Molly needs some new badges!).

29.03.2010 at 13:00Hey Adam
I have also made a version of the commercial so ill put up the link below:
Please everyone share this video with others and donate even if it’s $10, every bit counts towards helping people with cystic fibrosis and seeing Chris get his junk out!
My mum (Melinda) is going to talk to her boss to see if the company will donate or help with raising some money for the foundation, which I think would be fantastic! The cosmetic company she works for is called Natio, I just wanted to let you know.
Thanks Adam for getting me involved!

29.03.2010 at 17:57Hey, Adam… wolfchasing here…
Pleasantly surprised that my caption got laughter. Very, very surprised indeed. Thankyou for adding to my list of being tweeted/mentioned by Aussie celebs. =D
But I wasn’t linked above! That cuts me deep. Real deep, man. ; )
Looking forward to other caption opportunities, dude. You keep the photos coming, we’ll keep the captions coming too.

Absolutely fantastic effort !
Hey Adam and everyone involved in the ‘evolving show’, THANK YOU to all your generous fans out there who love your show and help ‘fill the buckets’.
Amazing support which is heart-warming indeed.
Big thanks to Chris Hughes, we think he is a star already! *

(Adam, I noted you called me Karen in your last blog, granted, I did deserve that for accidently calling you ‘Dave’)

29.03.2010 at 20:04Gee would like to say I was from Botswana but actually just here in Melb! And after all the years of feeling guilty ‘exposing’ my child to your comedy here you are featuring such in your show. Thanks for the laughs.

30.03.2010 at 06:17I’ve got to say that having an audience halfway around the world wave at me is possibly one of the coolest things ever. That just solidified my so far tentative plans to come to MICF next year! Thanks again Adam.

30.03.2010 at 13:34Cindy, as a Canadian resident in Melbourne, all I can say is ‘come on down’! The ‘Lord of the Fries’ has poutine, there are plenty of fellow Canucks to share laughs with, and Melbourne is a lovely city to visit or live in.
