Mess Around Montreal – Friday

Mess Around Montreal – Friday

Well tonight’s audience was a blast.

I will run you through the photos I took of them, and let you know what happened:

These guys taught me never to assume that the young dude with the slightly older guy is a father and son combination. Oops. Turns out they are a couple who met because they play on the same ice hockey team. Not sure how you manage to find anyone attractive in ice hockey gear, but they proved that love will find a way.

These guys taught me never to assume that two people of the same age are a couple. They were in fact brother sister. Their mother was Beryl, the lovely older lady who attended my show a few nights ago. She went home and told them that there’s a comedian that buys you drinks, so I bought them one.

This couple were both French, and had the sexiest accents in the world, as opposed to this couple…

who were a mix of German (him) and Lebanese (her). Fun people, great to chat to, not sexy languages.

The girl on the left of this photo was from Adelaide, and got excited whenever anyone mentioned Adelaide. By the way, I tested the Canadians in the audience to name the capitol of Australia – we went through Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide before the Lebanese lady finally hit on Canberra.

This couple had been together nine years, and said the secret to a good relationship is realising that whoever you’re with will annoy the shit out of you, you just have to put up with them.

And finally, this is the only guy all week who knew who Norman Borlaug was:

Lastly, I challenged the German guy and the Lebanese lady to be my final two competitors for tomorrow night’s sit up and push up Belly-lympics. Sadly, she said she is on a plane back home tomorrow, but he offered to do it, on a condition.

Apparently our German friend has a busted arm, so he offered to attempt 200 sit ups instead.

So tomorrow night a German, a Swede, a Dutchman, an Aussie ex-soldier and I will attempt a sit up and push up challenge for charity. I am asking people to sponsor me for 10c per completed sit up/push up, with all proceeds to go to Hope and Cope, a wellness centre for people with cancer. (www.hopeandcope.ca)

By the way, my French competitor pulled out a few minutes ago via email. Bloody French.

I’ll let you know how it goes, and I hope you can chip in with a little change as well.

Adam

Adam re six degrees of separation – the girl from Adelaide (my daughter Sarah-jane), has a younger sister, Josie. Josie learnt sign language here in Adelaide from Barry. Josie is a big fan of yours (as are we all in this household) but she tells me that Barry is the funniest person she has ever met and yet he has never said a word to her! Hope to see you perform again in Adelaide soon.

After reading all the captions to the pictures, I really wish I had read my tickets properly and not have only showed up for the last 20 minutes. Even though I was out of breath and hot as hell when we got there only to realize we had to stand by the bar, we enjoyed the show as much as I knew we would. I take my Aussie hubby every year. It’s the only night in the year we go anywhere! Hopefully next year I’ll get te time right. After having kids and I guess the older they get, the dummer I get. Oh well, see you next year!

Awesome show, I’m actually from Canberra, expected Sydney to be mentioned, but Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide, thanks for a memorable night.

Adam you had started with a neo-nazi comment when I had walked in (bc of the shaved head) and then you just dominated! Cheers to you and I look forward in seeing you live once again. Great show, very fun.
