Here It Comes Again

Here It Comes Again

Howdy all

The annual Nectar Lounge Trial Shows are back, starting this Sunday.

If you don’t know what I mean, let me summarise: from Feb 1 to March 8, the best comics in Melbourne will be trialling new material for their Comedy Festival shows, with me as the host, at The Nectar Lounge, Flinders Lane, Melbourne.

The shows start at 6pm, and entry is via a gold coin donation at the door, which will then be given to Beyond Blue.

In the past, these shows have taken on a life of their own, as we manage to maintain a running commentary on the week-to-week lives of the audience members that return every Sunday. Relationships have started, friendships have blossomed, and careers have even sprung from this tiny cellar below a police station in the centre of Melbourne.

For those of you not in Melbourne, I will post a blog every Monday after the shows, detailing the challenges and results of the previous night’s entertainment. These blogs generally receive around 1500 views per week, ten times as many people as actually see the show.

This week’s guests will be Adam Vincent, Hannah Gadsby, and visiting Canadian comic Steve Patterson (last seen at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal), as well as my weekly partner in crime Adam Rozenbachs.

Of course the true stars of the show will be the audience – who in the past have featured Crazy Henk the Mad Dutchman, Jono the wannabe comic.., and whoever else we manage to meet each week.

I can’t confirm any more acts, but if the past years are anything to go by, we can expect appearances from Dave Hughes, Danny Bhoy, Alison Bice, Celia Pacquola… and I’ve even heard some massive TV stars may make an appearance as well.

So, to sum up – 6pm, Nectar Lounge, Flinders Lane, Melbourne. Starts this Sunday, Feb 1. The blogs will start sometime on Monday.

Hope to see you there

I hope they remember the recipe for the Adam’s Nectar cocktail!

Found this website with this lame arse comedian when I was searching for Adam Sandler…

I’m kidding Mr. Hills, you rock! Seeing you at the Canberra Show… both nights!!! And it just so happens that I’ll be seeing Danny Bhoy at the same place a month earlier. I’m just so excited, two great comedians within a month of each other. This is quite surprising seeing as nothing ever comes to Canberra.

Don’t know if you remember me from the Spicks and Speck-tacular show but when you asked the audience if they ever threw their underwear at a band, I got up and said Anthony Warlow in a production of The Pirates Of Penzance. It was a great show. I loved it! Hope to see you again for 2009
