My new show “Inflatable” is officially up and running! Thank you to the lovely, lovely audiences in Brisbane who let me have a great weekend of shows. Adelaide is a-comin’ this weekend, and Canberra the weekend afterwards, so I hope to see you there.
Now, the reason for this blog is to once again plug the three acts I will be producing at The Melbourne Comedy Festival. And when I say “producing” I really mean, funding. I ain’t gonna make any money out of it, I just want some good acts to get some great publicity.
Firstly, Adam Vincent is brilliant! I shared a house with him in London for a while, and I know a lot of comedians who absolutely love what he is doing at the moment. One of his reviews last week in Adelaide said “If you don’t see his show, then quite frankly, you’re stupid”. Now I don’t want you to feel stupid, so the link to his show is – http://www.comedyfestival.com.au/season/2009/show/adam-vincent-adamland/
Hannah Gadsby won Raw Comedy a few years ago, was selected for the Moosehead Award last year, was invited to the Montreal Comedy Festival and is amazing. Her new show has already received a 4 and a half star review in Adelaide, and was described as “tears-rolling-down-your-cheek-funny”. Her show is at http://www.comedyfestival.com.au/season/2009/show/hannah-gadsby-kiss-me-quick-i-m-full-of-jubes/
Finally, Wilson Dixon is a country and western character, created by jesse Griffin from the Four Noels. You may have seen him on Spicks and Specks closing the show last week, and right now he is in London recording a radio series for the BBC. You will love his act, which has been compared to Flight of the Conchords, and you can track him down at http://www.comedyfestival.com.au/season/2009/show/wilson-dixon-rides-again/
So there you go – my three picks for the festival. Handpicked in fact. I kno sometimes it’s hard to know who the best shows are, but if you take a chance on people like these, you’re more than likely to have a top night.
Hope you like ’em, and I hope to see you somewhere soon.
